In the town of Pixyá in the municipality of Tecoh there is a beautiful open cenote of green tones, it is located in a hollow with stone walls and surrounded by vegetation , we are referring to theCenote Suhem which means “Maiden”. It is located one kilometer away from the paved road where you will follow a dirt road until you reach the entrance to the cenote.
For a long time the cenote was abandoned, since its inhabitants respected it due to a legend in which they said that if you dared to swim in its waters you would lose your strength and drown. However, as the generations progressed, this idea was discarded and its residents organized to rehabilitate it and turn it into a tourist inn.
With a diameter of approximately 30 meters, a height from the floor to the water's edge of 15 meters and a depth of between 8 to 30 meters, its crystalline and fresh waters in green tones are inhabited by hundreds of catfish that seek shelter in the roots of trees that have descended to the bottom for a little water.
To descend to its cool waters you must go down some wooden stairs that were placed next to the stone wall that will lead you to a wooden platform where you can admire and at the same time prepare to enter. In addition, it has 3 platforms at the top designed for the most intrepid and can be launched from a height of approximately 15 meters.
In addition to the fact that you can swim in its fresh waters, it has a cave where you can dive and discover secret passages hidden inside, without a doubt this will be a great experience. As if that were not enough, there are those who find in its enormous stone walls the perfect opportunity to practice climbing and in the end dive from the heights.
This place also offers camping service for those who want to spend the night surrounded by nature and cool off in the waters of the cenote at night, since it is perfectly illuminated.
In addition to having everything you need to spend a pleasant time in the place, such as palapas, bathrooms, showers, dressing rooms, an area prepared in case you want food service and ample parking.
