This Cenote is considered the most beautiful and safest in the State; It is located on private land and the owner has left it very comfortable and accessible for swimming, snorkeling or diving (he built rustic stairs, a concrete platform, added lighting, etc.), so that all families could enjoy it. this wonderful place.
Located in Holcá, Kantunil police station, it not only allows you to enjoy the natural beauty of Yucatan, but also its cultural heritage, since it is located in the heart of the Mayan civilization about 30 minutes from Chichén Itzá and one hour from Valladolid.
This cenote has its own history, in pre-Hispanic times it was occupied as a refuge during the war between the cocone groups against Chichén Itzá; In the wars of independence in the year 1800 it was occupied again by indigenous people fleeing colonial repression; finally in 1935, according to its current occupants, the Che Family, it is known that during these social movements at the time of the revolution and caste war, Chihuan once again served as a refuge for its residents in Holcá. The Cenote Chihuan has a maximum depth of 14 meters (50 ft) and, but the vast majority is 6 meters (20 ft), it always has direct access to the surface (except in a small Circuit) has a length of about 120 meters according to the caretakers, from the entrance and the illuminated part you can see about 40 meters or a little less.
