This beautiful cenote is located in the now called Pueblo Mágico de Motul, just 47 minutes from the city of Mérida, a few blocks from the center of the town so it is very easy to get to it.

The Cenote Sambula in Motul is a cavern type, so you will have to descend some masonry stairs, so you should be careful since if it is wet it can be a little slippery, when you enter the cavern it opens up very wide and divided into two sections, the part behind the stairs is a cave where you can see bats fluttering that found their home in this place and that over time have become accustomed to the movement of people so it is possible to admire them without needing to disturb them or enter them.

In front is the cenote, to access there are stone steps, it has a width of 8 meters through which you can see the crystal clear water of green tones, from the shore to the entrance of the cavern you have to advance 3 meters, The entire cavern is 40 meters long, it has no lamps inside, it is only possible to admire its beauty through the hole it has in what was once the edge of a well, which allows sunlight to pass through and allows us to appreciate the beauty of its interior.

The cenote measures a diameter of approximately 40 meters, it is open, but it is not at ground level but rather at a depth of 35 meters, so it is completely surrounded by stone walls and plants. To descend to its fresh green waters you will have to go down some wooden stairs. Be very careful and hold on to the railings since when they are wet they get a little slippery.

At the end, a platform welcomes you with two stairs arranged so that you can access its crystalline green waters, the depth is not known since even the divers who have explored its interior did not manage to reach the bottom, so It is important that you have your life jacket on at all times.

It is approximately 8 meters deep, although there are huge submerged stones where you can stop and rest for a moment, so it is mandatory to wear a life jacket at all times. We recommend that you bring a flashlight to easily admire the place.

As it is a site managed by the city council, the cost of access is affordable, approximately $40 MXN per person. It has all the facilities for you to enjoy this place, parking, showers, bathrooms, crafts and a restaurant with traditional Yucatecan food.

As if that were not enough, it has a small museum that tells us the history of the town of Motul, learn about its origins, admire paintings and appreciate items preserved to this day.
